Itinerary

  • 1 day: Marrakech – Skoura

Leave your Marrakech hotel or riad at 9:00 in the morning to traverse the High Atlas Mountains. The Telouet Kasbah, which belongs to the Glaoui family, the Princes of the Atlas, is reached through a side street just after Tichka pass, the highest in North Africa at 2260 meters. Following the last Pasha passed away in 1956, every extension towards the palace was deserted and looted, and today every one lies in ruins open to the rain and the wind. Wait until you get to the other end of the Kasbah to be impressed with the authentic internal décor. After this, you traverse the breathtaking Ounila Valley, which is dotted with tiny Kasbahs, Berber communities, flowers, and unexpectedly varied rock and soil colors. We arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, which is nearly just at end of the journey, and pause for a filling lunch so that you can explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site that has served as the setting for several Blockbuster movies. We travel another one or two hours to Skoura, where we will stay the night in a homestay.
